1 st proposal - Decentralization of Administrative Rights for the gZIL TG Channel
Objective:
“To establish a decentralized platform for all gZIL holders to communicate openly, share ideas, raise questions, provide constructive criticism, and propose initiatives related to the governance and development of the community gZIL fund.”
Context:
This proposal is aligned with the vision outlined in the following article:
“gZIL Holders to Manage Community Fund and Supercharge Zilliqa’s Ecosystem”
Why it’s crucial:
The Telegram (TG) group recently established for gZIL holders appears to lack the open and inclusive governance principles expected of a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). Concerns have arisen regarding the current administrators’ handling of feedback and proposals.
Specifically:
- Some gZIL holders have reported that critical feedback and ideas are dismissed without review.
- There are instances of gZIL holders being banned from the group for expressing meaningful criticism or proposing changes to the Gzil committee list, which goes against the principles of inclusivity and openness inherent in a DAO.
- This behavior risks undermining the DAO’s purpose by silencing diverse perspectives and potentially mismanaging the fund without adequate checks and balances.
The fund is intended to be managed collectively by gZIL holders. Therefore, all gZIL holders must have an equal opportunity to voice their opinions and participate in discussions. If administrators cannot constructively handle criticism or maintain impartiality, they may not be the appropriate individuals to oversee the gZIL community or its governance.
Summary:
A decentralized platform for gZIL holders to communicate and engage is essential to ensure true DAO governance. If Zilliqa-appointed ambassadors fail to recognize the importance of open dialogue and use their administrative powers to suppress critical viewpoints, this undermines the DAO’s legitimacy and purpose. The Zilliqa core team must address these concerns to uphold the integrity of the gZIL community fund.
Motivation:
Critical thinking and open discussion are fundamental to creating an effective DAO and ensuring proper allocation of the gZIL DAO fund. Silencing critical voices in the Telegram group compromises transparency, accountability, and effective governance.
